Nose Tip Aesthetics

Since its existence, mankind has been searching for the answer to one of the oldest philosophical questions, “What is beautiful?” and trying to reach that beauty.

There is no general, valid and definite answer to this question. Because beauty is also related to the perception and value judgements of the beholder. However, it is known that beauty is a mixture of shapes and proportions that give pleasure, arouse admiration, balance and symmetry. For this reason, many important people such as Euclid, Leonardo Da Vinci and Leonardo Fibonacci spent their lives to find the perfect ratio called “Golden Ratio – Fi (Φ) Number”.

When we analyse what facial beauty is in the light of the above definition; the correct and harmoniously combined form, It is obvious that a face formed by proportion and colours will be defined as “beautiful face”. The most important structure that affects facial beauty in terms of form and proportion is the nose. Especially the tip of the nose, is the focal point of the face and improves facial balance and The nose tip providesfacial symmetry to a large extent.

For example, compared to the structure of the face or nose; a wider nasal tip leads to a ruthless and cruel personality, a downturned nasal tip leads to a rigid and hostile personality, and a very sharp and pointed nasal tip leads to the perception of an unreliable personality with weak credibility.

Nasal Tip Aesthetics (Tip Plasty) is a minor (small) aesthetic application that aims to obtain a better and beautiful looking nose tip with the correct projection by correcting problems such as asymmetry, drooping, width and deformation at the tip of the nose, without interfering with the bone structure and cartilage structure, where the anatomical structure of the nasal dorsal bone is normal.

In order to have a more beautiful face; Nasal Tip Aesthetics, which is preferred by people who want to change the ugly-looking shape of the tip of the nose, which is the most critical point, to beautify it by giving it height and to make it proportional to the face, is the most preferred and performed application in general Rhinoplasty (Nose Aesthetics). For the majority of surgeons, nasal tip aesthetics is the most difficult application in Rhinoplasty. Because the result obtained affects not only the nose area but also the appearance of the whole face. However, advances and developments in technology and application methods allow these interventions to be applied faster, more painlessly and with good results.

How is Nose Tip Aesthetics Performed?

An image of the face and nose is taken before the nose tip aesthetics (Tip Plasty) application. Considering the complaints and demands of the patient, the intervention to be performed is planned with the help of simulations and the possible postoperative image is evaluated.

After the operation is decided, the operation is usually performed using the Closed Rhinoplasty technique. The type of anaesthesia is decided according to the size of the operation to be performed, but mostly local or general anaesthesia is performed. Although the duration varies according to the planned intervention, the operation is completed in approximately 1-2 hours. No tampons or splints are used except in some special cases. After the intervention, the patient is discharged from the hospital on the same day or the next day, depending on the patient’s condition.

Nasal Tip Aesthetic surgery is not a painful surgery. In recent years, especially with the improvement and development of operating theatre materials, the pain felt after surgery has been minimised. Nevertheless, the pain threshold varies according to the psychological and physiological state of each patient. In case of pain, you should rest in a semi-upright position for the first few days to reduce the pain and move without bending as much as possible.

For whom isnose tip aesthetics suitable?

In young adults and teenagers who have not yet completed their physiological development, growth continues and the appearance and function of the nose may change with the growth of the face. In addition, since rhinoplasty surgeries are mostly performed under general anaesthesia, being exposed to this procedure at a young age is a great source of stress for both the child and the family. It is generally accepted that rhinoplasty surgeries should be performed after 15-16 years of age in girls and after 17-18 years of age in boys, except in emergency cases and when deemed necessary by the doctor.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can there be breathing problems after nose tip aesthetics?

Depending on the purpose of the operation and the needs of the patient, nasal tip aesthetics can often include functional improvements. However, since every surgical intervention has risks, it is important to make a detailed assessment with your surgeon.

Can the nose have a more natural appearance after nose tip aesthetics?

Yes, the goal after nasal tip aesthetics is usually a more natural and balanced nose appearance. The surgeon shapes the nasal tip cartilage in accordance with the patient’s facial structure and wishes.

What is the recovery process like after nose tip plasty?

The recovery process after nasal tip plasty is faster compared to full rhinoplasty. Since no bone is broken, bruising is minimal and usually only mild swelling is observed at the nasal tip. The bandage or splint placed on the nasal tip is removed within 5-7 days. Most patients can return to their social lives within 1 week. The majority of the swelling subsides within 2-4 weeks, but it may take 6-12 months for the nasal tip to achieve its final shape.

Is nose tip plasty permanent?

Yes, the results of nasal tip plasty are permanent. The changes made to the cartilage structure and the sutures applied are preserved for a lifetime. However, minimal changes may be observed over time due to decreased skin elasticity and tissue relaxation associated with aging. In patients with thin skin, results are more prominent and lasting, while in patients with thick skin, it may take longer for the swelling to subside. Surgeries performed with the proper technique provide satisfactory results for many years.

What is the difference between nose tip plasty and full rhinoplasty?

In nasal tip plasty, only the nasal tip cartilages are worked on, while in full rhinoplasty, both the bone and cartilage structures are addressed. Nasal tip plasty takes less time, is less invasive, and has a faster recovery process. Bruising is minimal because no bone fracturing is performed. However, if there are issues such as a hump, deviation, or width on the nasal bridge, full rhinoplasty is required. For patients who only want correction in the tip area, nasal tip plasty is a sufficient and more practical solution.
